A: -20x + 16x2
B: 24x +16x2
C: 20x + 16x2
D: -4x2

Answer Key

2. C. Solve the equation by focusing first on the parentheses.
3. B. The variable represents the number of points scored by Ted.
4. A. Remember that two negative symbols make a positive.
5. D. Remember that unlike exponents cannot be combined.
6. B. The decimal .15 is the same as 15%, and x represents the normal price.
7. D. Remember that unlike exponents cannot be combined.

Algebra Week 2

Hello Wonderful Algebra Students,

I have just realized the drawback of keeping this blog. I need to post something almost everyday and it is going to take time. I am not complaining, just making a mental note to myself.

I am still trying to figured out how to embed the powerpoint lessons. Until I do, I will continue to post the link to the PowerPoint.

I have created a folder in Skydrive. You should have access to read any of the PowerPoints.

I hope this works.

Algebra Day ONE

Hello Everyone,
How did you like the first day of class?? If you have a google or live account you can post comments to this blog.  If you don't have, I can help you to get one of these free email accounts.

So, here is what we covered the first day.
- Pretest (Sorry, I know that is never fun)
-Adding and Subtracting Integers  (Don't forget to practice your song).

Here is the PowerPoint from today, you need to click on the link. I couldn't figure out how to embed it in here. Sorry, I tried multiple times.

Welcome to my Blog. You found it.

My hope for this blog is to post helpful Math items to supplement the Algebra & Geometry class in preparation for the GED test. I will post helpful videos or notes. So, come back and check it out regularly.

I am looking forward to a wonderful class. I am really excited to be teaching Algebra again.

I am posting some fun and education videos and websites for you to practice your skills.

  • This first video is about subtracting integers. I liked that way that it showed it.

  •  Here is the song again to help you remember.

  • Here is a link to an integer game. You can make the teacher look like whatever you want. I would suggest only doing this game 2 or 3 times as it repeats that same equations.

I will post the PowerPoint that I used in class today so you can go back and review it if you would like.

Welcome to class. I hope you learn lots of things and enjoy the class.
